The Guápulo Free Walking Tour: A World-Class Food Tour

April 26, 2018

We are happy to announce that our Guápulo Free Walking Tour is now happening every night Monday - Friday! You can catch the tour at 5:30 PM, inside El Hostelito, on Avenida La Coruña!

In honor of that excellent schedule change, we are going to tell you a little bit more of what you can expect on this stellar, 2 ½ hour tour.

This tour is an great way to check out the famous bohemian streets of Guápulo - one of Quito’s charming artistic areas, along with the best street food Quito has to offer.

To start, you’ll walk down steep streets lined with cantinas, see humble residences shoulder-to-shoulder with historic Spanish homes. Cobblestone streets pave the walk down to one of Quito’s most interesting old churches - oddly built outside of the confines of infamous Old Town.

From there, the guide will show you how to safely ride the bus like a local as you change scenery from the volcanic rock plaza of the Church of Guápulo to the smoky ambience of Quito’s top street food spot: Parque de las Comidas, on the border of Guápulo and La Floresta.

This stop is your one-stop shop for the working class foods that have become the stars of a local street food scene that has always thrived in Quito, including a handful of free samples provided to you by the guide. Those introductory samples give you all the context you need to pick out an excellent local dish on your own if you so choose.

Parque de las Comidas is an amazing place to visit even for those not interested in sampling the local delicacies. WIth the family friendly feel and all the folks around to have themselves an after-work snack and conversation, it is an awesome place to get another feel for this wonderful city!

So come along with us!
